Now serving Giacopazzi's traditional Italian ice cream
Whether you choose Apple Pie or Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert, who doesn’t like a bit of ice cream on the side? Or, if you’re a connoisseur of ice cream, perhaps you prefer two or three flavours in a bowl as the main event.
Here at The Red Lion, we are proud to announce that we are now offering ice cream from local producers, Giacopazzi’s of Eyemouth, whose ice cream can certainly play a starring role on any dessert menu.
In 1898, Lorenzo Giacopazzi left his home in Borgo Val Di Taro, in Northern Italy, to seek his fortune in America. However, on landing in Scotland, rather than continuing to the USA, he decided to settle in Eyemouth, a small fishing village in the Scottish Borders. There, he set up a business doing what he knew best: making ice cream.
Giacopazzi’s delicious ice cream is still produced in Eyemouth today, lovingly handmade in small batches, using the same traditional Italian family recipes, using high quality ingredients, such as the finest Italian flavourings, fruit purees and other ingredients, and cream and milk from Yester Farm Dairies at Gifford in East Lothian
We have selected a few flavours for our ‘Red Lion Favourite’s menu, but keep an eye on our Specials Board throughout the year as we offer seasonal flavours for you to choose from. At The Red Lion, we like to offer a range of gluten free dishes, daily, so we were pleased to learn that many of Giacopazzi’s ice cream flavours are gluten free.
